Exploring AI-Assisted Gym page (2026)
AI-Powered Personalised Gym Experiences concept
AI-Powered Personalised Gym Experiences concept
I explored how AI-assisted experiences could evolve the user experience beyond traditional conversion rate optimisation (CRO).
The project investigated how AI could help people make more confident decisions by simplifying membership selection, personalising recommendations, reducing friction, and surfacing the most relevant options based on individual goals, preferences, and intent.
Rather than replacing existing user journeys, the concepts explored how AI could enhance key moments across discovery, comparison, onboarding, and conversion through more intelligent, adaptive, and personalised experiences.
From a UX perspective, the work focused on reducing cognitive load, simplifying complex decisions, and creating more goal-led experiences. From a product perspective, it explored how AI-driven personalisation, guided recommendations, and contextual support could improve engagement, increase conversion confidence, and strengthen long-term customer relationships.
The redesigned gym pages had already introduced improvements around:
The next stage was exploring:
The challenge became:
How might AI help users make faster, more confident membership decisions while improving overall conversion performance?
A conversational layer designed to help users identify the most suitable membership based on:
Rather than browsing static pricing tables alone, users could receive contextual recommendations and simplified explanations of plan differences.
An AI-assisted personalised gym journey concept designed to showcase how intelligent recommendations and guided experiences could tailor gym journeys around member goals such as weight loss, strength, wellbeing, swimming, or recovery.
The experience helps users discover the right membership, classes, facilities, and routines through guided recommendations, reducing decision fatigue and making gym choices feel more personalised and supportive.
From a UX perspective, the journey shifts from static membership browsing to a more guided, decision-first experience. From a CRO perspective, it aims to improve conversion, engagement, upsell opportunities, and long-term retention through smarter, personalised recommendations and motivation.
Why an unbranded gym experience?
This concept has been intentionally designed as an unbranded experience to focus on the product thinking, user needs, and strategic design decisions rather than a specific organisation. Using a fictional gym brand allows the concepts to demonstrate how AI can enhance the member journey in a way that is transferable across the health and fitness industry, while respecting the confidentiality of previous client work.
Explored how AI could dynamically surface:
The goal was to create recommendations that felt assistive rather than overly sales-focused.
Concepts explored included:
This aimed to reduce cognitive load and help users reach relevant plans faster.
Additional concepts explored:
The focus was on extending value beyond the initial conversion moment.
The concepts were designed around several behavioural principles:
The exploration also considered trust, explainability, accessibility, and maintaining user control throughout the experience.
This exploration helped demonstrate how AI could move beyond chatbot-style interactions and become more embedded within the overall product experience.
Rather than treating AI as a standalone feature, the concepts focused on how intelligent guidance, personalisation, and contextual assistance could support users more naturally across the full membership journey.
The work also reinforced how future CRO optimisation may increasingly rely on adaptive, personalised experiences rather than static journeys alone.
